SONG CHOICE DEVELOPMENT
As a group we made a list of around 23 songs that linked with our chosen genre; Indie Pop. We then sat and listened to each one and thought about all the postitives and negatives of the song if we was to use it in our music video. Once we had compeleted this we narrowed it down to 4 songs which we then went on to speak about in more detail whilst listening to them multiple times.

These were our final chosen songs:
HENRY CRINKLE- STAY
LONDON GRAMMAR- HEY NOW
LORDE- TENNIS COURT
GOSSIP HEAVY CROSS
When deciding upon which song we was going to choose to use in our music video our main focus was to try and imagine what kind of music video would fit the music. In order to do this we listenend to each indivdual song without seeing the official music video, this would therefore allow us to come up with ideas ourselves and see what we thought the music could be associated with.
In the youtube video that you have just watched at the top of this page it showsall of my team members listening through all of the songs and discussing possible thoughts and coming up with ideas. We let all the songs run through completely to get a real feel and understanding of what messages the songs were trying to share. At the begining of the video we start to listen to the song 'Stay' by Henry Crinkle. Due to the instumental at the begining of the track members of my team and I were finding it hard to create a scenario of ideas in our heads. Depite this we still gave the song more of an opportunity to give us some ideas so we left the track running until the lyrics actually started. However, due to the repetitiveness of the lyrics and not much diversity we still struggled as a group to come up with some new ideas which we was all happy. We didnt rule this song out entriely, but however we moved onto listening to the other 3 we has shortlisted.
The second song that we listened and spoke about in the video was 'Tennis Court' by Lorde. Straight away all the members of my team including myself was intrigued. We was coming up with all sorts of ideas from effects to locations of where the video could be shot. Some of the ideas for a possible shooting location was in the woods at night time with lights beaming through the trees making it seem quite frightening and eary. We thought of this idea beause of the tone and rhythm of the song its self. In other thoughts we thought that the song would be easy for one of our actors to learn. Also, due to the lyrics being clear and powerfully spoken, it would come across better on camera.
When we had finished jotting down some ideas for the second song we moved onto listening to 'Hey Now' by London Grammar. Already by listening to the song and having all of my team members being familiar with it we were coming up with ideas quite quickly. We thought that this was the song that fitted with the genre that we wanted to focus on 'Indie Pop' better and we knew friends that would be willing to form this sort of band and take part in our video if we were to do it to this song.
The final song that we listened to was 'Heavy Cross' by Gossip which was a songwe was all familiar with but didnt like too much. Even though it wasnt one of our favourite songs we still tried to come up with some ideas but thought it would be difficult to create a music video for the track as it would be compared too much to the original considerig it wasw quite well known.
